The rulers of Balasinor are Babis. The ancestors of the founder of this dynasty were in the service of the holy Prophet Mohammed.
The Babis are Muslims Yusufzai pathans originating from Afghanistan. They were in the service of the Mughal Emperors.
As a reward for a selfless act one of them was made the subah or governor of Ahmedabad. Later on division took place amongst the three brothers. The eldest brother got Balasinor, the second got Radhanpur and the youngest got Junagadh. Ironically , the eldest got the smallest territory and the youngest got the largest. Balasinor made commendable progress under the rule of H.H. Nawab Jamiyatkhanji Babi the father of the present Nawab Saheb. He was a great dramatist and did quite a lot for this field. The Garden Palace built in 1883 and now run as a heritage hotel by the royal family is a beautiful property with lush green surroundings and an ambiance that is royal yet rustic. The forecourt of the palace has beautiful marble biradaris which from part of the seating area.
  Balasinor: - Walking distance from the Garden Palace is the Choti Baadi complex housing the royal mausoleums and the nearby old palace. A walk through the town makes you pass through narrow lanes and see areas such as Bohrawaad having beautiful old havelis. Evening pastimes could be utilized with a stroll around the lake and to the adjoining Bhim Dungra hill with a visit to the temples there . You cab view the breathtaking sunrise and sunset and lush green surroundings here. and special enclosures where the remaining eggs and fossils can still be seen. A perfect place for outings for student's groups from schools and colleges. A one of its kind lifetime experience not to be missed.
Wanakbori Dam : A piece spot near the dam on the river Mahisagar. Known for its serene surroundings and scenic beauty.
Timba-Tuva and Lasundra : Hot water sulphuric springs believed to have a miraculous cure for arthritis and rheumatism. Ancient folklore associated with the temple near Timba-Tuva concerning the Pandav - Bhim.
Dakor : A religious place with the age old temple of lord Ranchodrai - an incarnation of Lord Krishna . The sweetmeat-Magaj and the chickpea balls Gota are delicacies famous from this place. A must eat.
Galteshwar : A picnic spot near the confluence of two rivers having an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Pavagadh : A hill destination with the foothills having the old city of champaner with its architectural structures such as the fort and the mosque amongst others. The cable car ride to the temples atop Pavagadh is an aerial delight!
Raiyoli : Prehistoric 65 million years old Dinosaur excavation site considered to be one of the third largest sites in the world, this place is a unique experience. Fossilized bones and eggs were found here. This place was a hatchery as well as a graveyard - a one of its kind site. Raiyoli is being developed as a Jurassic Park having an interpretation center.
  Special Arrangements:
Special visits can be arranged to visit the palaces and other architectural structures in nearby princely states of Santrampur, Lunawada, Devgadh Baria and Jambughoda and also the Ratanmahal Sloth bear sanctuary near Devgadh Baria. These arrangements can be made on prior requests only and on receiving permission from concerned authorities.

The Drawing room is elegantly furnished with Louis XIV style French chairs, antique lamps, portraits, a collection of photographs of Indian Royals and hunting trophies. The family entertains guests here. Garden Palace has eight Beautiful furnished rooms with attached modern baths and royal atmosphere for this guests. The Dining room has cabinets housing various trophies won by the Nawab and his family in a variety of fields. Souvenirs from various part of the world can also be seen here. The one piece
glass "Dholak" an Indian musical instrument and the antique stone statue of an Indian deity is a must see. The Cuisine at the Garden Palace is an experience of a lifetime. It is a connoisseur's delight! Begum Saheba happens to be an excellent cook having been invited to host Royal food festivals of Gujarat by Gujarat Tourism at the Chola Sheraton, Chennai and at the Park, Calcutta. Under her supervision you are sure to get authentic Mughlai cuisine both vegetarian and non - vegetarian. The Royal Dastarkhaan ranges from a variety of chicken and mutton preparations to a spread of kebabs, pasandas and halwas. Vegetarian delicacies are one of their kind here. The Palace has its own vegetable gardens, poultry and dairy - so you are assured of fresh food. The palace lawns earlier used for royal functions and now used on such occasions are made available on special requests for weddings, receptions, conferences, parties and the likes. Royal and traditional atmosphere with shamianas and other paraphernalia can be created.
